ARC Review: The Bad Boy CEO by Sugar Jamison

The Bad Boy CEO
Author: Sugar Jamison
Publication: St. Martin's Paperbacks (November 3, 2015)

Description: Colt King has spent his whole life trying to prove he's not the trash his hometown of Destiny, Nevada, thought he and his brothers were. As soon as he was old enough he left town, vowing to make a name for himself and never looking back at the place that looked down on him. But that plan goes out the window when his ailing elderly aunt asks him to come home.

He begrudgingly returns to help the woman who raised him. But he's no longer the poor kid from the bad part of town. He's the ruler of a custom car empire and a financial genius. He arrives expecting a boring stay, but when he walks into his childhood home to find a woman in nothing but her underwear pointing a shotgun at his face, he knows his trip home will be a memorable one. With his aunt sick and forcing him to help her restore her fledgling hair salon, he has more than enough on his plate. Colt has no idea that her sexy tenant, Zanna, is going to be the cause of his many sleepless nights.

Zanna Jacobs came to the ghost town of Destiny to stay out of trouble and stay the hell away from men. She's got a serious thing for bad boys that's she trying to kick, and when she lays her eyes on the brutishly handsome Colt, she knows he's got bad news written all over him. He's not the typical thug she goes for: He's too clean cut, too good looking, and too cold--and when he comes to take over her salon, she's not going to take it. Zanna decides to show him exactly who the boss is. Colt is used to people following his orders, and when Zanna challenges his every word he finds her infuriating and incredibly sexy. He can't keep his hands off her...and knows that once he returns to Las Vegas, all bets are off...

My Thoughts: Colt King and his brothers were glad to get out of Destiny, Nevada, when they grew up. They were always looked down on in the town. Colt was determined to be a success. Now in his thirties, he and his brothers are all multimillionaires largely due to Colt's talent for business. When the aunt who took them in after their drunken father abandoned them calls the boys home, they go because they owe her. Colt wants to get in and out as soon as possible. He certainly didn't expect to run into an almost naked beauty holding a shotgun when he entered his aunt's house.

Zanna Jacobs wound up in Destiny after leaving an abusive boyfriend. She was on her way to San Francisco and wasn't intending to stay until she met Colt's aunt. Now Zanna is living in Colt's aunt's house and running her beauty salon. Zanna is an excellent stylist but the shop is a little run down and disorganized.

The aunt wants Colt to stay in town for 30 days, live in her house, and get the business in order. She would also like him to fall in love with Zanna though she doesn't tell either of them that. Zanna and Colt are a case of opposites attracting. Zanna isn't looking for an uptight businessman who is eager to get out of Destiny and back to his real life in Las Vegas. Colt isn't looking a a woman who wants to settle down in Destiny.

The two have lots of clashes about the way the salon should run but they are also fiercely attracted to each other. Zanna sees his rather well hidden kindness and Colt sees a woman who isn't interested in his money.

We also get to see a little bit about how the other two King boys are doing back in Destiny. I'd be eager to read their stories too.

Favorite Quote:
He remembered watching One Million BC with his father as a boy.

Now that's a woman, he would say. They don't make them like that anymore.

But apparently they did, and she was standing before him, nearly naked, with her long red finger nails wrapped around the barrel of a gun.
